Chicagoland/Midwest March Maple Syrup Events!

It’s maple-tapping time in the Midwest! There are a few Maple Tapping/Maple Education events going on in the Chicagoland area! Why not take the kids out to enjoy an outdoor activity and learn about something they see on the breakfast table all the time!

Maple Sugaring at Kline Creek Farms 3/3 & 3/4 10 am – 4 pm
See how 1890s farm families tapped trees and boiled the collected sap into maple syrup and sugar. Then, try to tap a tree yourself.

Cost: FREE

Sap Collectors at Fullersburg Woods 3/2, 3/9 and 3/16 3:30 – 4:30
Hike to the sugarbush to collect sap from sugar maple trees. To register, call (630) 850­-8110

Maple Sugaring Days at Napersettlement 3/10 & 3/11
During Maple Sugaring Days, you’ll see how the early settlers of Naperville tapped maple trees and then turned the sap into maple syrup. Try a tasty maple milkshake and listen to live music!

Cost: $9 Adults & $6.50 for Kids

Maple Tapping Time/Lisle Morton Arboretum 3/10
Bundle up the family and come celebrate the bounty of trees. Tap a maple tree and taste a yummy sample of the finished product. Learn abou the history of maple tapping and see how it’s done. Complete the adventure with eating pancakes and maple bacon by the fire. Event for families of all ages.

Cost: $18 ($25 for non-members)

Maple Syrup Hike Ryerson Woods/Lake County Illinios Through Out March
Learn to identify sugar maple trees and how to pick the trees with the sweetest sap. Follow the process from sap to syrup, and taste the final product on a Maple Syrup Hike. he hikes are offered on Saturdays and Sundays through March 18.

Cost: $5 ($7 for residents)

North Park Village Nature Center Syrup Festival 3/24 – 3/25
Discover how sap is tapped from maple trees at the Maple Syrup Festival at North Park Village Nature Center, 5801 N. Pulaski Road on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  No registration is required.

Maple Fest at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp & Retreat Center Lake Geneva, WI 3/25
This historic camp on the lake offers a pancake breakfast, maple syrup tours, children’s games and a craft fair.

Cost: FREE Breakfast Tickets: $7.50/Adults $4.50/Kids
